CN signs deal for new Prince Rupert Container Terminal

CN has signed a deal with Chinese transportation company COSCO to ship containers via the new facility currently under construction in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. The new facility has long been touted as an important part of Canada's increasing Pacific orientation. Officials claim it offers the fastest, most cost effective route for goods travelling from Asia to the North American interior.

MacKay suggests Canada may resume aid to North Korea

Peter MacKay recently suggested that, provided North Korea complies with its nuclear disarmament commitments, Canada will resume food, and possibly other, aid to the impoverished nation. It is good to see Canada engaging itself on a material level in the Korean situation. While the current government has been supportive of six party talks, the support hasn't progressed very far beyond the rhetorical level.

China fingered as top foreign espionage risk in Canada

Jim Judd, the director of CSIS has publicly stated that China is Canada's top concern when it comes to who is conducting espionage within Canada. While unsurprising, the articles which report on meetings of the Senate committee of national security and defense are poorly timed to coincide with Peter MacKay's visit to China.
